Join us for an exciting afternoon of talks from NeurIPS, and our experts in the Cambridge and Munich community!

This year, the thirty-fourth Conference on Neural Information Processing Systems, NeurIPS, will be virtual - and so will be our meetup! The Cambridge and Munich WiMLDS chapters have teamed up to stream NeurIPS talks as well as talks by our local AI experts, and network within our communities.

Join us at 5pm UK time and 6pm CET!

Interested in AI, machine learning, deep learning and applications to engineering and science? Join us! We will hand out three Amazon vouchers each £50 or EUR50, which is kindly sponsored by MathWorks, as well :-)

Once you have registered, we will send you a link with the WebEx details.

This event aims to provide a friendly, inclusive atmosphere and is governed by the NeurIPS Code of Conduct.

Speakers

Eva Pelster

Co-Founder at WiMLDS Munich, Germany & Application Engineer at MathWorks

(

She/Her) holds a degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Stuttgart and works as an Application Engineer at MathWorks. Her focus is on modeling and simulating systems. There she also has been contributing to efforts supporting more diversity in the field of engineering and science.

Janet Macmillan

Co-Founder at WiMLDS Cambridge, UK & Senior User Experience Team Lead at MathWorks

Janet leads the UK user experience team; they conduct user research and lead interaction design for tools across deep learning, parallel computing, and model-based design.

Janet supports diversity; she hosted Women in Tech ignite talk events in the UK, connecting inspiring women working in science and engineering.

Svenja Reimer

Team Lead Research Group Process Monitoring and Control at IFW - Institute of Production Engineering and Machine Tools

Svenja holds a Bachelor of Science in as well as a Master in Mathematics and Science. Her talk showcases opportunities and challenges in the context of machine learning for monitoring and controlling of manufacturing processes.

About NeurIPS

The purpose of the Neural Information Processing Systems annual meeting is to foster the exchange of research on neural information processing systems in their biological, technological, mathematical, and theoretical aspects. The core focus is peer-reviewed novel research which is presented and discussed in the general session, along with invited talks by leaders in their field. On Sunday is an Expo, where our top industry sponsors give talks, panels, demos, and workshops on topics that are of academic interest. On Monday are tutorials, which cover a broad background on current lines of inquiry, affinity group meetings, and the opening talk & reception. The general sessions are held Tuesday - Thursday, and include talks, posters, and demonstrations. Friday - Saturday are the workshops, which are smaller meetings focused on current topics, and provide an informal, cutting edge venue for discussion.
